ABOUT ME

I love technology

I have been working with technology since I was a kid. I love teaching technology to people who identify themselves as "not tech savvy". Technology can be scary, confusing, and difficult. It is a completely different language.

Let me be your translator.

I can teach you in person or via webcam how to use your technology. We can work together addressing issues with your phone, tablet, computer, television, or just about any other "smart" device you have. I work with iPhone, Mac, Android, Windows, and Linux. I can help you fix problems and help you learn new skills so you can get more enjoyment out of your technology.

Most importantly, I go at your speed. You can tell me to slow down, repeat, and re-explain each step. My goal is that working with your technology becomes enjoyable and as natural as opening a door.

Photo of Me

Welcome! I am excited to share my knowledge and help you become confident using your devices. I started by teaching my family how to use their devices when I was in high school, and continued to do so throughout college and my entire career. I am very familiar working with my customers remotely as I worked in a call center troubleshooting devices with people of widely varying skill levels. The most important thing I learned to help you be successful is to walk through the steps verbally first, then have you practice. With technology: Learning IS Doing. Some people like to take notes while others like to practice, practice, practice. I take the time to do both and make sure you are comfortable with the process, and your notes are exactly how you need them to be.

Work Experience

Freelance Computer Services
July 2000 - Current

I began my computer career on a Commodore 64 at age 8. I started helping my folks with their computer needs, and then when I left home for college, I expanded my clientele. Since then I have been "the guy" to go to, to get help with your computer needs. While I still help fix computer problems myself, I have also developed a passion for teaching people how to work with computers themselves. Over the years I have refined my teaching style. I used to just tell people how to fix their computer issues, and now I show them and help them do it themselves. This hands-on, showing and doing method allows people to gain confidence with their own technology. I find that showing the steps, and then having my client do the work increases comfort and control. If they need help, I am right there to guide them along. Note-taking is highly encouraged! I have helped many folks with Mac and PCs work through their computer issues and become much more proficient with their devices.

Customer Relations & Technical Support Tier 2 / Verizon Wireless
May 2010 - Apr 2019

I worked as a customer relations and technical support team member at Verizon Wireless for nearly a decade. I worked resolving customer care and technical issues, and did well engaging with customers, and so I became the escalated call management! When customers had issue that were not easy to fix, I was the guy who was called in to help resolve their needs. This work required a great deal of guiding customers through their devices over the phone, talking them through how to use their devices, as well as how to fix them when something was not functioning properly. I became very familiar with Apple iPhones, iPads, and Watches, as well as, Android devices. I know the frustration people feel when they call in to get an issue resolved and I love hearing their relief after we worked through the problem together.

Freelance Graphic & Web Design
Jun 2012 - Current

I create logos, invitations, and websites based on my client’s needs. All logos are in vector format, and other documents can be created in a variety of formats, including PDFs. I create websites for personal use, research laboratories, small companies and professionals. My goal is to help create beautiful websites that help my clients develop a strong web presence. I can also design and create basic online store fronts that accept paypal payments for small business owners and artists.

"I recently had the great pleasure of hiring Gerard Gadigian, a private computer specialist, to help me better understand and use my Mac Lapbook Pro and older model iPhone. I am a middle-aged, computer-shy woman and I easily get overwhelmed and discouraged by the computer. I confess I have never taken a computer class and basically use my computer for emails, photos, word documents and simple things like that but I had a number or seemingly random questions about my computer such as how to clean up and organize my files, how to use and access my “cloud” back-up, how to find things that mysteriously disappeared from my desktop, how to make my computer go faster by getting rid of things I don’t need or have duplicates of. Gerard is extremely knowledgeable about computers but even more importantly for me, he is very patient and clear!! He would wait while I wrote things down as he showed me how to do something and then have me practice several times -starting from scratch each time-so I really knew how to do it! I worked with Gerard for an hour and half and learned so much about my computer and felt so much more confident when we were done. It was both time and money extremely well spent! I am working on a new list of projects to work on with Gerard in the near future!"
